Report:
Ken Barnes
talked about adjustments made with Union dues. New hires have not been
added on to our account to have union dues added and the 3 latest Union
members that are no longer with us were still being counted for. Monies
owed will be taken out of money that is owed to us for overpaying our
dues.
Chief Hilbert
presented Ken Barnes with a check for half of the cost for the TV bought
for Station 3 out of the Union fund.
All new hires
have pain there $100.00 initiation fee.
Currently working
on changing our name with the IRS to match what our Union name is per
our Bylaws.
Safety
Committee:
Ken Barnes
reported that the Speak Easy mic’s have been ordered. Chief Hilbert
only going to order 19 due to the increased cost this year over last year.
Looking at by some from Thornapple Fire Department that are used and at
a reduced cost.
Jeff Patterson
reported that he is looking into a lock out/tag out system for use. These
are about $34.95/each. Jeff Patterson has approached the chief about this
with no resolve. Asked by Union President Dawn O’Brien to write
up a safety concern and turn it in to one of the safety committee members.
Contract
Research Committee:
Mike Roman
updated Union members on how the committee will handle the investigation
of different items. In contact with Jim Devries regarding this.
Old
Business:
Jeff Patterson
reported that the Joe Roman bathroom project went well and has been reimbursed
for cost’s related to the project by donations from some Union members.
Mike Roman
reported that the CT of Joe Roman has come back negative and will have
a PET scan next week. Joe Roman is back to work and is looking forward
to coming back to work here also.
New
Business:
Kent Nordlund
presented a possible amendment to the Bylaws in regards to the increase
in funds that the Union can spend with a vote by the executive board for
emergencies at $2500.00. This issue tabled until the next meeting.
Mike Martin
gave a report on the status of our pop machines. We are currently only
making 7-8 cents per bottle sold. Has already increased the cost to $1.25
at Goodyear and at the Township Administration.
The new Delta
Township Library has inquired about a pop machine at the new facility
when it opens sometime this summer.
Larry Hutchinson
suggested that Mike Martin keep track of mileage for all of the driving
he is doing to fill pop machines and to return bottles so that he may
possibly get reimbursed for doing so. Mike Martin going to report back
total mileage driven.
Del Teigeler
made a motion to raise all pop machines that the Union currently has to
$1.25. Larry Hutchinson seconded the motion. Motion passed with a vote
of 10-5. Motion passed.
Mike Martin
to call Pepsi and Coke to adjust machined to reflect the wishes of the
Union.
Mike Martin
drafted a letter for a Union picnic to be held sometime in May to bring
some unity back into the Union and a chance for families to get together.
Discussed when we would have it and decided to leave it up to the shifts
to vote on which weekend to have it. Will report back and send out info
as soon as possible.
Robert Lane
made a motion that the picnic be paid for out of Union funds for the picnic.
Everyone bring a dish to pass all else paid for by the Union. Seconded
by Michael Ruster. Motion passed with a vote of 16-1.
Mike Martin
talked about Fishing for Kids and the success that it is having. Last
year donated over $1200.00 to the Great Lakes Burn Camp. Looking for a
donation from our Union for the event.
Larry Hutchinson
made a motion to donate $150.00 to the Fishing for Kids fundraiser. Mark
Proebstle seconded. Motion passed with a vote of 16-1.
Dawn O’Brien
suggested that we give the usual donation for the birth of Bruce and Lisa
Bond’s baby. Del Teigeler made a motion for the gift. Seconded by
Mark Proebstle. Motion passed 17-0.
Bruce Bond
arbitration set for July 21.
Mark Proebstle
report that mayonnaise bought for condiments is going bad a separating.
Suggested that we cut back on how much we buy.
Larry Hutchinson
reported that there are a number of cases of pop upstairs at Station 3
and it was decided that if anyone wants any that the get it quick or it
was going to be thrown away. Pop is about 3 years old.
Tony Skutt
inquired about Class A uniforms and honor guard uniforms. Del Teigeler
stated that he has spoken with Chief Hilbert about this and was turned
down.
Brent Davenport
reported that it was said that the township would look into getting new
workout equipment for Station 3. Wondering if anything has been done about
it. Dawn O’Brien stated that she would talk to Richard Watkins about
this situation and see about having a quote done for equipment.
Mike Roman
made a motion to adjourn meeting. Seconded by Mark Covert. Motion passed
17-0. Meeting adjourned at 1943.
